Read your registration certificate before designing replacement numbers
Prepare the assigned identifier, state and hull measurements before requesting a boat-number proof.
Boat registration numbers are the alphanumeric hull ID required on both sides of a motorized vessel's bow. Federal law requires at least 3-inch tall, block-style, contrasting characters placed on the forward half above the waterline.
Copy the assigned identifier carefully
Start with the vessel’s current registration documentation rather than a blurry photograph of worn letters. Keep the prefix, digits and suffix in their assigned order. If the registration is being transferred or corrected, resolve that with the issuing authority before commissioning replacement lettering.
A boat name, manufacturer hull identification number and documented-vessel official number are different identifiers. Tell the reviewer which marking you need; custom vinyl does not issue or renew a government registration.
