Custom cut vinyl lettering

South Carolina Boat Registration Number Decals

Design custom South Carolina boat registration numbers for a pontoon, fishing boat or runabout. Choose legible SC lettering for your hull and leave room for the separate state-issued year decal.

We supply custom lettering. Your registration agency supplies your assigned number and official validation sticker.

Leave space after the SC number

The SCDNR display instructions place the year decal immediately following the number on each side, within six inches. Measure that sticker space along with the full SC-number width before ordering. Use a layout that reads left to right on both sides. Do not mirror the lettering for the opposite side.

Keep graphics clear of the registration area

A pontoon rail, brand stripe or existing hull graphic can make the bow look wider than its usable flat area. Mark out the number panel and decal space before selecting width. For dark hulls, compare a light solid color. For pale hulls, compare a dark solid color. Readability matters more than matching a complex wrap.

Read the size and layout guide

Registration lettering starts with readable block characters

The federal display baseline specifies plain vertical block characters at least 3 inches high, contrasting with the background. Check state instructions for the validation decal and any vessel-specific exceptions.

Build a readable layout

01. Copy the certificate

Enter your assigned number exactly. Check letters that resemble digits and keep the prefix and suffix groups distinct.

02. Check the usable panel

Measure the flat area on both sides, including sticker space. Check actual character height rather than relying on a decorative outline.

03. Preview and check

Choose a plain, legible style and a color that contrasts with the hull. Confirm the final size, finish and order details in the designer.

Replacement numbers that fit the boat you own

Before replacing SC lettering, remove damaged material and adhesive carefully, then inspect the surface. Vinyl needs a clean, dry, sound surface. Textured plastic, rough paint or heavily oxidized gelcoat needs advice before application. A bold color choice cannot compensate for a surface that will not hold adhesive.

Before you order

Do you issue South Carolina boat registrations?

No. We sell custom vinyl number lettering. Registration, renewal, ownership changes and official validation decals are handled by the relevant state agency.

Can I use a script font for registration numbers?

Use the plain block style required for state registration lettering. Keep decorative boat names separate from the mandatory number layout.

What will my order cost and when will it ship?
